The inspiration behind ICAM's success lies in the Jesuit educational approach. The commitment to generalist engineering courses allows graduates to become active players in company management within a very short period of time.
The characteristics of our courses are :
- humanities, which represents around 20% of the curriculum,
- the international challenge,
- the industrial dimension.
Student applicants undergo strict interviews before being admitted to the course.
Students must attend all the classes covering the whole range of subjects in the degree course : Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Energetics, Electrical Engineering, Automatic Control, Industrial Management, Production, Humanities and Modern Languages.
Alternating the course between lectures and professional situation scenarios, reinforces the student's capacity to analyse and affirm his or her interpersonal relations in taking responsibility. The Humanities classes enable students to develop managerial skills over and above their scientific and technical knowledge.
Main characteristics of course programs
The diversity of the course offered by the ICAM Group allows students to gain access to over a hundred professions in general management, production related activities, engineering and design, research and development, commercial engineering, human resources management, operation maintenance or industrial management.
In order to develop their sense of professionalism, students are in direct contact with the industrial world through numerous projects and situation scenarios.
Classic Program
The syllabus spans over 5 years, divided into two cycles, the first of which is a 2-year preparatory course, including a 10-week industrial internship. To develop autonomy, students are required to carry out a 4-month gap period between the third and fourth year. During this period, students carry through their personal project along themes such as economy, society, politics, charity or humanitarian work. Students are requested to carry out an industrial internship in the fifth year (minimum of 4 months) as well as a final year scientific applied research project in one of the R&D departments. Each project is co-funded by an industrial prime contractor.
Cooperative Education Program
The preliminary 2-year cycle is designed to prepare the students for admission to the 3-year "apprentice" engineer cycle. They obtain specific scientific training as well as individualized coaching to enhance personal development.
This course offers students the benefits of being employed while, at the same time, following a full-time higher education degree. The work-study programme offers the possibility of following a co-operative education course. Students benefiting from co-op. courses fall into two categories : undergraduates who are considered as "apprentice engineers" or adults from continuing education. With support from their company study coach, students can develop their scientific and technical knowledge while improving professional skills.
After graduation, young engineers possess versatile technical skills and are capable of managing production units or coaching work teams in an international environment.
Specialized Masters Degree in Railroad Engineering
The first international specialized masters degree in railroad engineering was set up by ICAM in association with Bombardier Transport and Montreal Polytechnic in response to a growing demand in that sector. The course is broken down into the following modules : railroad environment, line haul (infrastructures and networks), production and maintenance of rolling stock, embedded computing and information management, hauling and braking, car enclosure and bogie unit, equipment integration and project management. The course takes place on the ICAM campus and lasts one year, four months of which are devoted to a railroad industrial project.
Post-Graduate course in Industrial Engineering
"SILESIANUM Professional" was founded by the ICAM Group in collaboration with the Jesuit community of the South Poland province. This is a 12-month vocational training co-op. course in industrial management.
The parter company, which finances the course costs, takes in a young engineer on a work-study program and entrusts him or her with a veritable industrial assignment. A study coach is chosen by the company to ensure efficient follow-up.
