ICAM GROUP has been involved for more than 15 years in short term Research and Technology Development projects linked to industry needs. It has been decided in 2005 to strengthen the historical activity by developing academic research programs in order to tackle problems more in depth. Since then, teams of interested professors were formed, links with universities were developped and PhD thesis projects were started.

The team at ICAM Nantes has a long experience in structural composites based on organic resins. This work has been focused on the different processes and always performed with industrial partners (SMEs as well as large companies). Non destructive evaluations have been simultaneously developed to qualify these techniques for industrial applications.

So, without excluding other fields, the development of the academic research naturally focused on the composites processes and life cycles. Two research projects, dealing with the recycling of organic structural composites, are about to start, together with another one concerning a process improvement.
