With an experience of more than 100 years in engineering teaching and with over 3000 students on its three campuses, registered for the academic year 2006-2007, the ICAM group is a renown and best known generalist engineering school in France.
The ICAM group is composed of 8 engineering schools in France and abroad : 3 ICAM campuses in Lille, Nantes and Toulouse, 4 IST campuses in Lille, Vannes, La Roche-sur-Yon and Toulouse and 2 IST in Central Africa (Pointe Noire and Douala).
We propose different and complementary engineering syllabuses :
ICAM : A 5-year Master programme that gives students, especially during the firs two years, scientific, technical, human relations and foreign languages to work as an engineer in both medium-sized and larger firms.. The last three years is a mix between theory and practical works in order to give students professional experience working on concrete case studies.
IST : A 5-year Master sandwich course, targeted towards high school-leavers, in order to prepare a generalist engineering diploma. Students are trained as engineer staff to work in both medium-sized and larger firms. The professional experience acquired at IST and during the apprentice placement is appreciated by companies.
Training programme dedicated to experienced professionals and holders of a postgraduate degree at ICAM and IST.
The teaching is as close as possible to companies through various work experiences, project works contracted by companies and carried out by students and teachers, …
Studies Abroad
The ICAM syllabus includes a 4-month mission abroad for students provided this mission fulfils 4 criteria: geographical and cultural distance, personal financing of the project and entire carrying out of the project. Other opportunities to study via the ERASMUS exchange programme are also available, including double diplomas. IST curriculum includes a four-month work experience abroad too.
The Human dimension development
More than 25 per cent of lessons are devoted to non scientific classes. During those lessons, students acquire skills in communication, management, human sciences...
Our networks
Graduate engineers can benefit from a highly active alumni network, which allows them to maintain relations with their institute and provides them with supports throughout their career. Furthermore, the alumni network allows our research laboratories to obtain applied research projects in partnership with our former student companies.
Almost 5000 companies are partners of the ICAM group such as Alena Space, Altran, Bosch, CNES, Danone, Dassault, Décathlon, EADS, EDF, L'Oréal, PSA, Renault, Thales, Total and Toyota.
Above all, the ICAM group focuses on the building of local and privileged partnerships.
Liberty, trust and solidarity are three fundamental values
To settle social diversity within schools is today’s ICAM group priority. Social diversity on campus (engineering students are encouraged to mix with other students in the school) and social diversity in companies. Cultural opening is another value taught at ICAM.
Since 1906, ICAM has developed professional teaching for unemployed people for instance in relation with social services.
The ICAM group would like to involve more and more students in its projects because the ICAM group trusts in them and more generally, trusts in people.
